“Life is a voyage through the infinite ocean of time where the scenes are perpetually changing”. One of the beautiful definitions about life is the given quote. Have you ever tried to uncover the truth behind the life? Have you tried to explore the relation between the spiritual life and material life or how to relate the spiritual philosophies with that of material realities? Through this essay, am trying for the same – balancing the life between spiritual and material world.
If we look into the basic principles of every religion, we can see that it all upholds values that are considered basic to groom as a good human being. It conveys the morals by narrating the stories in the best beautiful manner. Epics, in this sense, may be considered as the finest example. In Sanskrit language epics is defined as the expression of the past in the form of advices through stories about different traits of humans. It seems like the present world is little bit skeptic about the value that religion brings to their life. The dialectical nature of this feeling is revealed when we see that we have this feeling when we are into any of the religion. It happens because the people today are more materialistic, the influence of technology in negative fashion, lack of trust, love and patience towards another human being and increase in lust too. People feel that religion and its principles are for those who practice it – like priests or monks.
“More the money, Less the belief and vice versa” – Are we not the slaves of this kind of opportunistic nature towards God? I am not generalizing since it is not the case. But at least, quite a few people are there who belong to this lot. If we do scrutiny of the religious texts – let it be of any religion - we can see that there are a lot of management principles that are very much relevant even in the present day world. But, at least for some, it is difficult to admit the fact because it is related to religion. They wanted to hear the same from either Harvards or MITs or IIMs. “Tell only the truth – but only those that are happy to hear. Tell only good things and those that do not create any kind of over anxiety” – an excerpt from one of the religious texts. If we can practice this in our day to day life, I am sure, the repercussion will be very much visible. This is just the tip of an iceberg. Then imagine the kind of wealth that all religions and their respective spiritual philosophies bring together for the upliftment of the humanity.
If we can blend the spiritual thoughts with that of our materialistic way of life, then we can have the peace of mind that each one of us is looking for. These principles are clearly defined and interpreted in text books. Simultaneously it is not necessary that we need to follow the same in the exact manner prescribed. That is the advantage of principles – we can interpret it in our own way as they did it in texts. Ultimately, need to make sure that we do it for the betterment.
Proper blend of spirituality and materiality increase the confidence level of the individual that in turn increase the productivity of the individual that helps the society or organizations to come out with a quality product or service. In a nutshell, the best practices of tradition and modernity combined in the best possible ratio, the society who owns such individual – the organization who possesses such individuals – will come up the ladder as an epitome of excellence that everyone else would like to emulate.
Be an individual that others would love to emulate.
